Wind’s Integrated System
Quality, Environment, Safety and Social ResponsibilitySince it was founded Wind has operated in accordance with high quality standards verified and certified on the basis of the principal, relevant international regulations. The Company’s development has resulted in the maintenance and extension of the certificates obtained and in the integration of all quality, environmental, safety and social responsibility aspects into a single Management System.
Wind considers this to be a concrete implementation of a corporate policy that aims to offer the market the best possible services based on technological developments while also focusing internally on its most important resources - its people.
Quality
In Wind Quality is continuously based inside and outside the Company on a constant search for improved solutions, increasingly in line with the requirements of its customers.
For this reason in 2002 Wind obtained ISO 9001 - Vision 2000 Quality Certification, a standard that rewards systems based above all on customer satisfaction, the monitoring of processes and products, initiatives aimed at constant improvement and the management of human resources.
In 2004 Wind extended the scope of its Quality Management System to include Operations, Business, Procurement and Services, Human Resources, Organisation and Quality functions in the renewal of the certificate. In order to preserve the standards set by ISO 9001 certification, Wind has adopted the following principles:
- cutting-edge technology
- constant improvement
- operating efficiency
- product innovation and efficiency
- transparent prices
- customer loyalty and satisfaction
Environment
Wind considers the Environment an essential factor in the development of corporate activities: in 2000 it adopted an Environmental Management System which received an ISO 14001 certificate, issued by DNV, at the end of the same year. Moreover, it was the first company in Italy to obtain this acknowledgement for mobile telephony too, having received confirmation of the Certificate for the three-year period 2003-2005.
At present Wind’s main environmental protection goals regard the planning, installation and operation of fixed and mobile network systems; the separate collection of special waste and its recycling; the prevention of air and soil pollution, and energy saving. These activities are widely shared within the Company and involve all staff and top management.
Safety
In 2001 Wind obtained OHSAS 18001 certification for its safety system from the international certification body SGS, becoming the first telecommunications company to receive this certification. In accordance with OHSAS 18001 certification and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, Wind safeguards the health and safety of its workers, reducing the risk of serious accidents, increasing prevention and workplace inspections, going far beyond requirements provided for by current regulations, whose observance is obligatory.
Social Responsibility
SA 8000 certification, granted in 2004, takes pride of place among the certifications obtained by Wind. SA 8000, which concerns Social Responsibility issues, is integrated with CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategies and guarantees an ethical and responsible behaviour on part of the Company throughout its entire operations, including internal and external stakeholders.
SA 8000 is an international standard certifying good corporate behaviour as regards respect for human rights and workers’ rights. It is inspired by the principles ratified by the UN, by the International Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.
SA 8000 is a guarantee of Wind’s ethical and responsible behaviour in the following specific contexts: child labour, forced labour, health and safety, freedom of association, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours, remuneration, social behaviour of suppliers.
Wind expresses its commitment to the SA 8000 standard in the Sustainability Report, the tool used to communicate its contribution to sustainable development and the initiatives implemented to integrate corporate social responsibility values into its operations. The Sustainability Report provides a complete and clear picture of the Company’s social and environmental performance, in addition to its financial results, and outlines future commitments.
